Absences – 20 Day Attendance Rule
By Government Law, under the Education Welfare Act 2002 every Primary School is obliged to report any child who is absent for 20 days or more to the School Attendance Officer, who will investigate the situation by contacting parents.
Parents should record on Aladdin the “reason” for their child’s absence or inform the office, class teacher or principal.

Children missing 20 days each year over the course of 8 years amounts to just less than one full school year.
20% (35 days) 1 day a week. Over the course of 8 years in Primary School would amount to missing aprx 1 ½ school years.
30%(53 days) 1 ½ days a week. Over the course of 8 years in Primary School would amount to missing 2.3 school years.
