Communication

  • An annual Parent / Teacher meeting takes place in October.  
  • Parents can request a meeting with a teacher by making an appointment
  • Please correspond as much as is possible via email. You will find the correct email for the person you wish to contact on our “Contact Us” section.
  • Please do not contact any member of staff via their personal phone or via any social media outlets.
  • End of year reports for each child are completed in June.
  • Updates are circulated regularly via Aladdin and our school website www.gortnahoens.ie.
  • Parents are asked to discuss their concerns with the class teacher initially, by making an appointment and, if necessary to proceed further by contacting the Principal by making an appointment.
  • When we wish to communicate with parents regarding their child, the parent who is contacted (i.e. the parent with whom the child principally resides) will inform the other parent of meetings, arrangements etc.  Special requests for separate communication can be accommodated.

New School Phone Number/ School Communication  

The school is now using a mobile phone number instead of a landline, thus enabling you to send text messages when relevant. This phone will now be in operation during school hours.  

The new school number is 087 7919488.  

Please save this number in replace of 056 8834390 which will become obsolete.  

Certain communication needs to be a phone call or a face-to-face meeting and to arrange these please use email or text messaging as much as possible.  

Absences, early collection, late arrivals etc. can be notified via email to the relevant class teacher as the preferred method or by texting (second preferred option) the school mobile.  

Anne is available in the office for any queries and calls Monday to Thursday from 9.10 am to 1pm.
