Parent Teacher Meetings will be held on the 25th and 26th of October. The school will close at 2 pm on these days to facilitate the meetings. If the proposed time given for a meeting, does not suit, please contact the class teacher to re-arrange.

Guess the Score Competition

There was no winner of Our Guess the Score Competition for the recent Intermediate Hurling Co. Final so we raffled 6 x €10 between all the children who had brought back a card. The winners were Áine Power, Jacob Moriarty, Rachel Slattery, David Stanley, Declan Teehan and Aidan O’Neill.

The total raised was €826 and this will go towards the Lip Sync Fundraiser. Thank you to all who supported in any way.

Arts Week

Arts week is taking place in our school for the first time this week. All classes will be involved in a range of activities. Múinteoir Ciara will be taking classes for baking, Múinteoir Therese will be doing Yoga, Jacinta Purcell will be doing “Drumming” sessions with each class and we have artist Paul Finch in the school for two days before finishing up with drama sessions for each class on Friday with Margaret Mc Cormack.

Cross Country 2017

Well done to all the children from 1st to 6th class who took part in the Tipperary Primary Schools Cross Country. We were in the large schools category and 3rd & 4th class ran 800m while 5th & 6th class ran 1000m. Everyone was well able for the event due to the great efforts put into increasing our fitness levels in school over the last 3 years. 1st class to 6th class run every Thursday from 2.40 to 3 pm.

3rd & 4th Class Boys won Silver medal in the Team Category.

The first four runners home for this team medal were

Micheál Campion (12)

This was a great achievement with 83 people in the race altogether.

5th & 6th Class Boys won Bronze medal in the Team Category

Patrick Brophy ( 16)

Tomás Meaney ( 27)

Again this was a great achievement as there were 91 boys in this race altogether.

A special congratulations to the boys who won individual medals also.

School Bag Weight

Tips to reduce the weight of school bags.

Get the right bag. Bags with two straps are better than single strapped as the weight distribution is more even.
Check that books brought to school are required.
Don’t bring home school books that are not needed that evening.
Don’t bring library books in and out of school each day if there is not an opportunity to read them in school.
When workbooks and copybooks are completed, bring them home and store them in a designated place.
Organise the bag so that heavier books are placed towards the back of the bag. Make use of compartments within the bag as this not only distributes the weight but it also makes things easier to find.
Declutter the bag once a week. Get rid of excess paper, lunch packages, broken pencils etc.
Don’t carry unnecessary things in your bag.
